Camp Riverbend is a children's summer day camp located in Warren Township, in Somerset County, NJ.  2018 dates are Monday, June 25 through Friday, August 10. Camp is closed Wednesday, July 4.  Counselors are expected to be present for the entire 7 week camp season, as well as all training dates.

Mandatory 2018 staff training dates:

Thursday, June 14: 5 to 9 p.m. (first year staff only)
Friday, June 15: 4 to 9 p.m.  (all staff)
Saturday, June 16: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  (all staff)
Sunday, June 17: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (all staff)

We do not provide lodging for staff members. You should have a place to stay within about 20 miles of camp. Most counselors come to camp on a camp bus, either as a bus driver (which requires a special Commercial Driver's License) or as a bus rider (supervising campers on the bus). Bus drivers and riders get extra money for doing these jobs, on top of their regular counselor salary.

Minimum age for counselors:  Current high school senior.

College students (just graduating high school) start at $1855 for the season, which includes training. Students just graduating college start around $2200. Teachers' salaries are based on their experience and background. If you are still in high school, please contact us in your senior year.

There are three basic types of jobs at Camp Riverbend:

Group Counselors work with one group of children all summer.  The group counselors assist activity instructors and at the pool.

Specialty Instructors teach specific skills to campers. Some of our specialty programs are arts & crafts, ceramics, woodworking, baseball, canoeing, international games and cooking, drama, music and soccer. Some positions (high ropes challenge course, canoeing, archery) also require that the instructor have, or be willing to earn, special certifications. Camp Riverbend will pay the fee to enroll you in a course to earn the required certification.

Waterfront Counselors teach swimming lessons every morning and lifeguard every afternoon. Applicants must have Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certifications, or be willing to earn these certifications before camp begins. Training provided by Camp Riverbend in June.
